Unlikely Pairings

New to me:  Ice Cream and Popcorn

There was a new parlor on the outskirts of town.

What the heck, I’m old enough to drive now. Grab my friend Sheila and we’re off.

ice cream parlor

Wow, I’d seen nothing like this parlor except in the movies.

Sitting at the parlor table with our cones, we were brought a bowl of

popcorn. I look at Sheila who tells me to “dip your cone in it, like this.”

I dipped and tasted:

It was Reese’s Pieces commercial only three times more!

Not just two smoothies, rather: smooth and bumpy; hot and cold; sweet and salty.

The marriage of munching the popcorn as it gave way to the chilling ice cream

meeting in the middle and churning to a savory blend of absolute delectable divine.

Life’s like that: Joy and Sorrow,  Ying-n- Yang

Yah-di-Dah.

Off to the store now. Yum.

Happy Birthday to me!

Well I must say it’s been a different celebration for me for birthday greetings!

In the past, I’ve received emails, and of course e~cards.

This year, however, only TWO paper cards which were hand-delivered personally by the well wishers; one mailed card.

Lovely packaged hugs from sister and parents.

Really new to me were birthday notes from LinkedIn contacts.

Google even sent me “artwork”  of chocolates, cupcakes and candles!

That clinched it for me.

I’m in.

Confirmed.

I have officially crossed the technology finish line (only to start again with whatever is around the bend).

Times they are a-changin’ … gotta roll with it.

Yup, I’m dating myself here.

But then, I’m a fun date and I celebrate the whole month.

Cheers!

They aspire me but yet I envy them. To be able to write and awaken emotions, causing one to ponder, to cry, to laugh, to fear, or just to shake your head, if only I could have the skill with words to create poetry in motion like my favorites Maya Angelou, produce thought-provoking pieces like my poet laureate Langston Hughes, the ability to spark imagination like Stephen King, or have a whimsical style like Shel Silverstein, but I also enjoy: SylviaPlath, although at times her poems can be quiet depressing and Edna St. Vincent Millay, ee cummings, daring writing style, I dream of a voice like Nikki Giovanni,Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo…

“It just doesn’t fit.”

Under revision : Stay tuned.

This title of this blog was for an earlier draft in response to  “ah hah moment” topic in a blogging U class.

As I began to redraft it and take suggestions in stride, the session ended and  I have concluded that any more of my attempts to recreate writing what was  a “surprise”  to me is like failed attempts to unring a bell.
