Catch it if You Can spotlights exhibits, plays and musicals, and other time-sensitive special events.

Picasso Still Life 1914 Picasso Still Life 1914

On view at The Museum of Modern Art until February 7, 2016, Picasso Sculpture is the first major exhibit of the artist’s three-dimensional work since MoMA’s 1967 survey The Sculpture of Picasso. The show’s 100 works encompass the different periods in which Picasso created sculptures. The entire fourth floor is devoted to this show and merits at least a half-day to fully appreciate the breadth and depth of his oeuvre (but if you only have an hour or two, don’t miss it).

Good to know: Members can enter the exhibit at 9:30 a.m., an hour before general admission and avoid the crowds.

Where’s the Umbrella?

Location: MCAS Miramar air show, San Diego.

Our new friend, young and kind, offered to go back to the check point and the umbrella was still there! I forgot to pick it up after all the picnic items were scanned by a marine (not TSA – yes!)  @sonofabeach96 – I thought about you while we were there. Continue reading

Prayer

We thank you Lord for days and times such as these ones;

For your constant shield through life’s challenges.

You raise us, from deep places of despair, doubt and regret;

To higher grounds of Faith, Grace and Hope.

From places of discontentment;

To the overflow of fulfillment.

May our tedious tests become uplifting testimonies.

May the meditation of our hearts and mouths;

Be acceptable before you Lord.

May your blessings that come from the Deep and the Four winds;

Be ours today and always.

Amen.

Prayer 2

SOMETIMES THE ODDEST THINGS HAPPEN IN LIFE!

Wonderful. News!!!

- MIKE STEEDEN -

book cover 12092015

The conversation went something akin to this!

“Have you ever thought of putting a collection of poems together as a book Mike?”

“Occasionally young Rachel…it would be a splendid thing indeed to be able to have a bit of hard copy for the grandkids to read one day and ponder on the point as to what went on in the mind of that silly old fool of a grandad they once had.”

“You should do it then.”

“Do what?”

“Write a book”

“You’re having a laugh surely? When it comes to getting things together I’m about as much use as a fart in a thunder storm; a eunuch in a brothel; you name it and that’s how pathetic I am.”

“No I’m not joking…just do it!”

“It’ll never happen Rachel…you know all the practical stuff involved…I’d just glaze over…remember I’m the bloke who…
